About the position

The Operations Support Team at Shell is tasked with managing the end-to-end net settlement activities for the Crude Trading business. As an Operations Support Analyst, you will play a crucial role in resolving volumetric and pricing issues that arise during the settlement process. This position requires daily communication with various stakeholders, including customers, traders, lease personnel, and inventory teams. You will be responsible for conducting detailed analyses and interpretations of volume allocations and revisions, understanding contracts, and navigating complex contractual pricing components. The successful candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills and possess the initiative and motivation necessary to fulfill job functions. A solid understanding of the flow of volumes, transportation activities, lease processes, and the finance and accounting aspects of contracts is essential. Additionally, you will need to work through multiple systems, which requires a technical mindset and adaptability to new technologies. In this role, you will ensure that all transactions are strictly governed by contracts, including provisions related to crude oil such as differentials, gravity penalties, and allocations. You will also need to analyze and verify complex accounting deals, quarterly quality bank statements, and pipeline statements. Your responsibilities will include pursuing collections with counterparties for disputed outstanding receivables and interacting with both internal and external customers. Monthly audits of Settlement Analysts' Status of Accounts will also be part of your duties, and you will operate in compliance with all documented SOX and operational controls.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure transactions are strictly governed by contracts including related crude oil provisions such as differentials, gravity penalties, and allocations.
  • Ability to understand complex systems interfaces and resolve imbalances.
  • Ability to understand contractual components, including complex pricing deals and quality banks as well as pipeline systems.
  • Understanding the analysis of allocated volumes and revisions to ensure data integrity.
  • Analysis and verification of complex accounting deals, quarterly quality bank statements, and pipeline statements.
  • Analysis/research of unsettled items in LPS, Endur and TSAP.
  • Analysis of paid items from Ecap and RADAR.
  • Pursue collections with counterparties for disputed outstanding receivables and analysis of payables where applicable.
  • Interaction with internal (schedulers, contract admin, traders, lease analysts, etc) and external (third party) customers.
  • Creation of MDN for new customers where applicable.
  • Perform monthly audits of Settlement Analysts' Status of Accounts.
  • Operate in compliance with all documented SOX and Operational controls.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3 or more years of professional work experience.
  • Must have systems knowledge or a strong learning aptitude for new systems in business-related applications and tools.
  • Technical capabilities will be considered.
  • Team player willing to serve as advisor to others with good inter-personal skills capable of developing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours during monthly close and at times of increased commercial business.
  • Commercially focused, demonstrate attention to detail, possess strong work ethic, good interpersonal and written skills, strong team working abilities, be results driven, self-motivated and thrive in a busy work environment.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of complex data and be able to generate reports to meet business requirements (i.e., Audits, Status, Metrics) and arrive at root cause of problems.
  • Ability to work autonomously, embrace accountability, develop resolutions and implement best practices with minimal supervision.
