The Operations Support (Human Services Specialist 1) position at the Oregon Department of Human Services is designed to empower Oregonians by facilitating access to essential services through the Self-Sufficiency Program. This role involves direct interaction with the public, providing a welcoming environment, and supporting the office's daily operations. Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for Oregonians in the field office, providing a welcoming environment.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the office.
  • Assist clients with the online Oregon Eligibility system for various programs.
  • Resolve questions or concerns via phone or email.
  • Provide support through a trauma-informed lens, including financial desk responsibilities.
  • Support business functions within the office and assist branch staff using the case aid model.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in interviewing to obtain personal or technical information or substantial people contact.
  • Experience handling a high volume of paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness of forms.
  • Experience working at a front or reception desk.
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills and understanding of diverse communication styles.
  • Experience in a professional environment, showing compassion and understanding for customers facing financial and emotional challenges.
  • Experience entering and verifying detailed data with high accuracy.
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a non-technical way to diverse backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
