About the position

The Operations Support (Human Services Specialist 1) position at the Oregon Department of Human Services involves providing essential support to Oregonians in a welcoming office environment. This role focuses on assisting individuals with various programs, ensuring accurate information processing, and maintaining a supportive atmosphere for families in need. The position requires in-person interaction and is not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Be the first face of contact in most field offices for Oregonians and provide a welcoming environment for families.
• Support the infrastructure of the office by assisting with day-to-day operations.
• Assist Oregonians with the online Oregon Eligibility system for various programs via phone or email.
• Provide support through a trauma-informed lens.
• May include financial desk responsibilities.
• Support business functions within the office and assist branch staff using the case aid model.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in interviewing to obtain personal or technical information or substantial people contact.
• Experience handling a high volume of paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness of forms.
• Experience working at a front or reception desk.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering exceptional customer service and understanding diverse communication styles.
• Experience in a professional environment, showing compassion and support for customers facing financial and emotional challenges.
• Experience entering and/or verifying detailed data with high accuracy.
• Experience handling confidential or sensitive information.
• Experience communicating technical information in a non-technical way to diverse backgrounds.
