About the position

The Operations Support Specialist at the Department of Homeland Security plays a crucial role in administratively supporting operations by developing, implementing, and advising on administrative function requirements. This position involves extensive research and analysis on administrative projects, monitoring activities, and serving as a liaison with various stakeholders. The role is essential for ensuring effective management support and administrative systems within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, interpret, and advise on administrative function requirements.
  • Review regulations or directives to ascertain impact on program areas and prepare project papers and staff reports.
  • Conduct extensive research and analysis on administrative projects to gather and analyze relevant data, develop options, and provide comprehensive reports.
  • Monitor administrative activities and prepare a variety of reports utilizing various automated systems.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of complex management support and administrative systems, programs, and processes.
  • Serve as a liaison and consultative link with the District Office and all Program Offices, internal and external customers, and community representatives.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • Successfully pass a Background Investigation including financial disclosure.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in budget, personnel, travel, space and logistics, or resource acquisition.
  • Ability to analyze administrative data from various sources.
  • Experience in preparing reports and documents.
