About the position

The Operations Support Specialist at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas plays a crucial role in supporting the court's mission by managing case information from initiation to final disposition. This position involves ensuring compliance with internal controls and procedures, maintaining official case records, and facilitating communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Dockets complaints, petitions, indictments, pleadings, motions, responses, minutes, orders, and other documents filed with the court.
  • Reviews documents to determine compliance with federal and local rules, and routes copies of documents properly.
  • Distributes orders, notices, and judgments when entered on the docket.
  • Prepares and issues summonses and warrants upon order of the court.
  • Ensures that statistical information is accurately captured throughout the pendency of an action.
  • Checks the accuracy of all docket entries using the court's quality control program.
  • Answers case-related inquiries and provides information on filing procedures.
  • Interacts with stakeholders in person, by telephone, and through the court's online help desk software.
  • Opens mail, logs remittances, writes receipts for payments made, reconciles transactions, and prepares deposits in accordance with internal controls policies and procedures.
  • Assists with all aspects of jury and naturalization services, including selecting, qualifying, summoning, and paying jurors.

Requirements

  • Two years of administrative experience in a professional office environment.
  • One year of specialized experience.
  • Experience working successfully as a member of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in a position requiring significant attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and experience handling sensitive material (preferred).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, government, political science, or related field (preferred).
