The Operations Support Staff (Human Services Specialist 1) position at the Oregon Department of Human Services serves as the first point of contact for customers seeking assistance. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming environment for families and individuals accessing various support programs. The position involves providing exceptional customer service, assisting with applications for services, and collaborating with a diverse team to meet the needs of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist Oregonians in person and over the phone while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Work with Oregonians applying for programs such as medical, TANF, Domestic Violence services, SNAP, childcare assistance, and long-term care services.
  • Answer inquiries regarding case status and provide information on accessing community resources.
  • Write clear and concise notes summarizing information gathered from applicants and collateral sources.
  • Collaborate with team members to rotate tasks and support the business needs of the office.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience interviewing to obtain personal or technical information or substantial people contact.
  • Experience handling a high volume of paperwork, ensuring information on forms is complete and accurate.
  • Customer service experience in a professional environment with diverse customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced office environment.
