About the position

The Operations Support Representative at Maersk is responsible for managing freight forwarding shipments into and out of the station, ensuring high-quality customer service and operational excellence. This role involves tracking shipments, inspecting freight, contracting carriers, and maintaining communication with customers and other stations. The position is full-time with a set schedule from Monday to Friday, offering opportunities for career advancement and benefits from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Control freight forwarding shipments into and out of the station across various modes of transportation based on customer requests.
  • Provide high-level operations excellence and quality customer service experience to all customers while maintaining station KPIs.
  • Track and trace outbound shipments.
  • Inspect outbound freight.
  • Contract new carriers as needed and assign carriers, providing load tenders.
  • Communicate freight status and any problems to other stations and customers, updating the system accordingly.
  • Perform data entry of shipments into the transportation management system.
  • Quote, cost, and invoice international shipments, including air, ocean, and ground.
  • Handle domestic air and ground routing, including Canada.
  • Negotiate freight rates and develop collaborative carrier relationships.
  • Find and develop new logistics/freight opportunities and design carrier solutions for other Pilot offices and external customers.
  • Multi-task while maintaining precise attention to detail.

Requirements

  • 1 year of customer service experience (preferred).
  • 1 year of dispatching experience (required).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to type 35+ words per minute.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, high-volume environment, particularly with email and calls.
  • Precise attention to detail.
  • Tech-savvy.
