About the position

The Operations Technician III (Ethernet/IP NOC) at Brightspeed is responsible for monitoring and maintaining ethernet/IP networks, ensuring high-quality customer service and effective communication during network outages. This role involves troubleshooting network issues, managing trouble tickets, and collaborating with various teams to restore services efficiently. The technician will work in a 24x7 environment, demonstrating technical expertise in network architecture and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain ethernet/IP networks.
  • Open trouble tickets and coordinate repairs with field operations and tech support.
  • Lead equipment and facility repair efforts.
  • Document network failures and maintenance activities.
  • Analyze and resolve trouble situations effectively.
  • Manage multiple trouble reports and provide Tier I/II support.
  • Communicate with internal customers during repair situations.
  • Guide restoration bridges during outages and support technicians in restoration activities.
  • Initiate internal/external escalations as necessary.
  • Follow up and close assigned trouble tickets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia platforms.
  • Knowledge of Layers 2 & 3 switch and router configuration and management.
  • Ability to isolate telecom and/or network outage causes and perform service restorations.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Telecom/Cable/Internet Service Provider industry.
  • IP Certification.
