The Operations and Technology Coordinator at Marion P. Thomas Charter School (MPTCS) plays a crucial role in maintaining and supporting the technology infrastructure and systems for the school district. This position is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hardware and software systems. The coordinator will also assist with technology planning and improvements, ensuring that the school's technology capabilities align with its educational mission. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer technology and networked information systems, with a preference for those who have experience in a school setting. In this role, the Operations and Technology Coordinator will manage inventory by tracking and documenting all technology equipment, including computers, servers, networks, phones, peripherals, and A/V systems. They will implement and maintain critical systems district-wide, such as servers, desktops, Chromebooks, phones, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks. Troubleshooting and repair of hardware and software will be a significant part of the job, ensuring optimal functionality across the district's technology resources. The coordinator will serve as a help desk resource, providing prompt and clear technical guidance to staff, teachers, and students regarding technology utilization. They will also be responsible for delivering comprehensive training to build staff's technical proficiency across core hardware, software, and platforms integral to instruction and operations. This includes developing and conducting engaging workshops, videos, and hands-on sessions covering setup, navigation, best practices, and troubleshooting for critical systems. Collaboration with the IT Director will be essential to strategically identify opportunities that enhance the district's technology capabilities. The coordinator will evaluate technologies and provide recommendations on system upgrades and improvements aligned with evolving instructional and operational needs. Additionally, they will maintain district websites with current information and support technology needs for school activities, programs, and events during or after school hours. Data analysis and reporting will also be part of the role, producing monthly reports that analyze district-wide technology usage data and maintaining clear communications with families regarding district policies and practices surrounding student Chromebook usage.
