About the position

The VP, Titles and Insurance is a key member of the Operations Department at SMFL, responsible for overseeing the processing of titles, registrations, and insurance for all titled vehicles involved in SMFL's transactions. This role involves managing operational activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency. The VP will also collaborate with various stakeholders, including customers and dealers, to maintain high standards of service and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Process all title and registration transactions for customers in all States where SMFL has transactions, ensuring a short turnaround timeframe.
  • Oversee the insurance follow-up process to ensure customers have valid insurance in place, working with third-party vendors to manage the process and reduce SMFL risk.
  • Maintain and keep current title and insurance information in Aspire.
  • Manage registration and titling inventory for all States, reconciling through physical audits.
  • Audit and reconcile related billing by working with dealers and/or customers.
  • Follow up with customers/dealers on delinquent titles and communicate with DMV as necessary to resolve issues.
  • Provide reporting to Management on delinquent titles and any ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Asset Management, Marketing, and customers to resolve traffic violations/fines, sales, and property tax issues.
  • Resolve all repossessions, salvage, duplicate, and corrected titles with various State DMVs.
  • Support the Operations team with UCC filing, documentation, audit preparation, and various operational daily activities as needed.
  • Manage the title process from inception to release with third-party vendors.
  • Facilitate monthly missing title meetings with sales and asset management teams.
  • Develop reporting that represents SMFL risk and progress toward missing title and insurance resolution.

Requirements

  • 7 - 10 years of specialized experience in operations or related fields.
  • 5 years of work experience in a leasing company environment or as a title registration clerk at a truck dealership.
  • Knowledgeable of paperwork requirements and all aspects of titling work for titled vehicles in all States where SMFL conducts business.
  • Familiarity with financing/leasing of titled motor vehicles and working with various state DMVs to obtain repossession/duplicate/corrected titles.
  • Working knowledge of insurance requirements and ability to follow up with third parties and customers for missing or expired insurance certificates.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills for data processing, Excel computations, and research presentations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment and provide best-in-class customer service.
