About the position

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless coordination of operations and maintenance activities within the organization. This position serves as the primary point of contact between the operations and maintenance teams, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to enhance productivity and safety. The OMC is tasked with screening work requests to assess their validity, urgency, and scope, making decisions to approve, revise, or reject requests as necessary. Additionally, the OMC is responsible for writing work requests when required, ensuring that all maintenance activities are documented and tracked appropriately. A significant aspect of the OMC's role involves identifying and escalating urgent work requests, particularly those that pose threats to safety, the environment, or production. The OMC must maintain an up-to-date understanding of all open maintenance work orders, which aids in developing planning priorities and weekly maintenance schedules. This includes tracking the progress of critical work orders, especially those related to preventive maintenance (PM) and any issues that could impact safety and production. The OMC must also determine the appropriate timing for safely shutting down and locking out equipment for maintenance work, communicating upcoming work scopes to shift supervisors to ensure proper preparation. Developing equipment preparation plans for large-scale maintenance tasks, such as tank and vessel inspections and repairs, is another critical responsibility. The OMC acts as a liaison, communicating the current status of work orders between operations and maintenance, and assessing the impact of upcoming work on affected processes. Collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams is essential for troubleshooting equipment issues and determining the priority and scope of work orders during both planned and unplanned outages. The OMC also plays a vital role in preparing for plant turnaround events, conducting weekly work management meetings, and maintaining knowledge of process equipment to aid in decision-making regarding work prioritization and planning. Furthermore, the OMC supports the cell renewal process and identifies potential cost-saving projects in collaboration with production engineers.
