About the position

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless coordination of operations and maintenance activities within the organization. This position serves as the primary point of contact between the operations and maintenance teams, facilitating communication and collaboration to enhance productivity and safety. The OMC is responsible for screening work requests to assess their validity, urgency, and scope, making decisions to approve, revise, or reject requests as necessary. Additionally, the OMC is tasked with writing work requests when required, ensuring that all maintenance activities are documented and tracked appropriately. A significant aspect of the OMC's role involves identifying and escalating urgent work requests that pose threats to safety, the environment, or production. The OMC must maintain an up-to-date understanding of all open maintenance work orders, which aids in developing planning priorities and weekly maintenance schedules. This includes tracking the progress of critical work orders, particularly those related to preventive maintenance (PM) and any issues that could impact safety and production. The OMC is also responsible for determining when equipment can be safely shut down for maintenance and communicating upcoming work scopes to shift supervisors to ensure proper preparation. This role requires the development of equipment preparation plans for large-scale maintenance work orders, such as tank and vessel inspections and repairs. Acting as a liaison, the OMC communicates the current status of work orders between operations and maintenance, ensuring that all parties are informed of any impacts on processes. In addition to these responsibilities, the OMC collaborates with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment issues and prioritize work orders during planned and unplanned outages. The OMC also plays a key role in preparing for plant turnaround events, conducting weekly work management meetings, and maintaining knowledge of process equipment to aid in decision-making regarding work prioritization and planning. This position requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and familiarity with SAP for managing work orders and maintenance metrics.
