About the position

The Operative Buyer at Mitsubishi Chemical America is responsible for managing purchasing-to-pay activities, ensuring effective procurement of goods and services across North America. This hybrid role requires collaboration with regional procurement teams and stakeholders to achieve procurement targets while maintaining compliance and seeking continuous improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform purchasing-to-pay activities including master data management, PR-PO approvals, and spot buying.
  • Provide a professional procurement service to ensure effective purchasing of goods and services on a daily basis.
  • Support the achievement of qualitative and quantitative procurement targets in North America.
  • Define operative buying targets in alignment with Regional Hub operations.
  • Ensure effective ordering of goods and materials according to business specifications and category management terms.
  • Maintain transparency and integrity of external vendors and agreements master data.
  • Collaborate effectively within the Regional Hub team and with the wider North America procurement organization.
  • Support MCG's purchasing activities in areas of ESG, KAITEKI, and HSE.
  • Ensure compliance with procure-to-pay processes while proposing innovative enhancements.
  • Oversee team-wide risks affecting business continuity and purchasing operations.
  • Support efforts to optimize and digitize transactional activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in purchasing.
  • Minimum 1+ years' experience in purchasing in an international environment.
  • Proficient with PR-PO processing and master data management practices.
  • Proficient in MS Office, spend analytics tools, e-sourcing platforms, and project management.
  • Experience in purchase-to-pay activities and familiarity with ERPs, such as SAP.
  • Advanced knowledge in ERP modules for procurement.
  • Good decision-making skills in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with international procurement teams.
  • Ownership-oriented approach in a professional environment.
  • Business fluent in English.
  • High ethical standards.
