About the position

At Carpenter Co., we are dedicated to improving the quality of life for others through our efficient manufacturing processes that promote sustainability. We are currently seeking an Operator B - Bun Puller for our Bedding division in Temple, TX. This position is crucial for the safe and efficient transporting of unfinished and finished products or materials to specific locations for manufacturing, storage, or unloading. The Operator B will work in a production and warehouse environment, ensuring that foam products are delivered to the appropriate locations for finishing and shipping to our external customers. The role requires daily communication with various stakeholders, including management and other employees within the department, to ensure that production schedules and shipping timelines are met. Operators will face challenges such as producing products based on customer demands and specifications while operating a forklift in a congested area where other forklifts and employees are present. This position is vital for maintaining the flow of operations and ensuring that all internal and external customer needs are met through scheduled operations. Candidates must be able to read and interpret a tape measure, possess basic reading, writing, and math skills, and have some computer experience for day-to-day operations. The ability to follow written and verbal instructions is essential. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including the possibility of overtime, weekends, holidays, and call-ins with little notice. Additionally, candidates must be able to lift and shift weights between 35 to 50 lbs. The starting wage for this position is $20.37 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Transport unfinished and finished products or materials to specific locations for manufacturing, storing, or unloading.
  • Ensure efficient and safe operations while operating a forklift in a production/warehouse environment.
  • Communicate daily with Quality Control, Department Manager, and department personnel to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Read and interpret a tape measure for accurate measurements in operations.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks effectively.

Requirements

  • Must obtain Carpenter Company Forklift Certification prior to operating a forklift.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills are necessary.
  • Some computer experience is required for day-to-day operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
