About the position
The Process Operator at Ketjen Corporation plays a crucial role in the operation of chemical process units, ensuring the production of quality products in a safe and timely manner. This position involves monitoring and controlling various equipment and instrumentation, contributing to the efficiency and safety of chemical manufacturing processes. The operator will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with team members to uphold safety standards and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control equipment and instrumentation for batch or continuous operation of chemical process units.
- Read and interpret training manuals, unit operating procedures, safety bulletins, and government compliance regulations.
- Monitor and operate process instruments such as transmitters, receivers, controllers, and DCS controls.
- Operate rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, and filters.
- Operate stationary equipment such as gas-fired furnaces, process reactors, distillation columns, and storage tanks.
- Perform basic math calculations for flow rates, tank levels, and temperature and pressure differentials.
- Maintain a written log of shift activities using company-adopted computer programs.
- Sample products for quality control, including hazardous materials.
- Load and unload tank trailers and perform maintenance procedures as required.
- Attend safety meetings and training sessions as necessary.
- Identify and handle hazardous waste according to company procedures.
Requirements
- Must have a Process Technology degree or 2 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing role/environment.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.
- Proficient computer skills, including spreadsheet use.
- High level of attention to detail, procedures, and documentation.
