About the position
The Operator I position at Pellet Technology USA involves assisting in the operation of the plant, working both on the plant floor and in the laboratory. The role requires basic industrial plant operator knowledge and mechanical aptitude to operate large-scale equipment in a research and production environment, particularly in the fuel ethanol and feed processing sectors. The operator will be responsible for monitoring plant operations, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation of PTUSA's plant operations as determined by the staff.
- Operate and understand plant operations through a Man-Machine-Interface (MMI) operating system.
- Sample plant streams to check operating conditions.
- Make key observations of operations to develop, improve, troubleshoot, and make changes to processes and products.
- Record and keep accurate logs on operating conditions.
- Sample process streams for analysis.
- Communicate with staff, lab tech, and Nutritionists on the status of plant operations.
- Maintain a team environment with operations and all other departments.
- Maintain plant records and generate written reports as needed.
- Input data into programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Comply with PTUSA and OSHA safety regulations.
- Keep work areas and plant clean and orderly.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous or similar experience in production/plant operations in the ethanol, enzymes, pharmaceutical, or biochemical industry preferred.
- Familiarity with mechanical equipment common to fermentation pilot and production plants preferred.
- Experience in utilizing plant process control systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice-to-haves
- Completion of specialized study or trade preferred.
- Knowledge of basic analytical methods and equipment.
