About the position
The Operator I position at Spire Storage West in Evanston, Wyoming, is responsible for monitoring and coordinating the operation of the company's gas storage facilities. This role involves ensuring equipment functionality, controlling gas flow and pressure, and responding to system alarms, all while adhering to safety regulations and operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Monitor equipment functioning, observe temperature, level, and flow, and perform regular equipment checks.
- Control operation of compressors, scrubbers, evaporators, and refrigeration equipment to liquefy or compress natural gas.
- Operate natural gas equipment, including starting up and shutting down equipment.
- Control equipment to regulate flow and pressure of gas to feedlines of boilers, heaters, and related steam-generating and heating equipment.
- Record, review, and compile operations records, test results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and concentrations.
- Adjust temperature, pressure, vacuum, level, flow rate, and/or transfer of gas to maintain processes at required levels or to correct problems.
- Review log sheets to optimize efficiency and detect malfunctions.
- Adjust supplies through use of remote-control regulators and valves as needed to maintain sufficient system pressures and flow.
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to SCADA system alarms and DCS system, recognizing unusual conditions that do not generate alarms and notifying appropriate personnel.
- Coordinate and monitor operation of the company's gas storage.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 0-4 years' experience in Gas Storage/Energy Industry preferred.
- Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Compliance with all OSHA, DOT, FERC regulations, and state and federal regulations.
- Abide by all industry and plant safety policies.
