The Operator position at Smith Industrial Services involves transporting, setting up, and providing operational support for industrial cleaning services. The role requires the operator to be trained in the operation, maintenance, and repair of high-pressure water blasting equipment and industrial vacuuming equipment. This equipment is essential for the safe and proper removal, containment, transportation, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials in heavy industrial settings. Operators are also expected to perform general labor activities associated with industrial cleaning, ensuring that all tasks are executed with the highest level of safety and integrity. Operators are responsible for the safe operation of all required equipment, which includes conducting pre- and post-trip inspections. They will perform various tasks such as wet and dry vacuum truck operations, hydroblasting services, hydraulic pump operations, and jetter truck operations. Additionally, they will load and unload equipment, tools, and supplies, and assist co-workers with manual tasks. General maintenance of machinery, equipment, and tools is also part of the job, along with cleaning vehicles and equipment. Safety procedures, including lock-out tag out, confined space entry, and adherence to company-specific procedures, are critical components of the role. Operators must report any potential issues to the Industrial Manager or Branch Manager and ensure compliance with company policies and attendance requirements. The position requires operators to wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and attend all necessary safety and health training. Travel is a requirement of the job, sometimes for extended periods, to perform the necessary work in various locations. The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift and carry heavy loads, work in confined spaces, and endure outdoor conditions that may include extreme temperatures and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
