About the position

The Operator position at Ring Containers involves operating production machinery safely and efficiently while maintaining documentation and communication with staff. The role includes performing scheduled preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring the production of high-quality products. Operators are also responsible for adhering to safety protocols and participating in continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and communicate ideas and problems to staff.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs to production equipment.
  • Participate in production equipment changeovers.
  • Monitor and explain deviations from Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Perform data collection of quality measurements and correct deviations from quality standards.
  • Communicate problems and progress reports to management and production personnel.
  • Perform maintenance tasks as outlined by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Promote good housekeeping habits to ensure plant appearance meets expectations.
  • Ensure all daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks are performed as outlined in the Master Cleaning Schedule.
  • Maintain accurate production reporting documentation.
  • Participate in plant teams and activities related to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Operate Powered Industrial Truck, Boom Lift, and Scissor Lift per OSHA regulations.

Requirements

  • Experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Strong communication skills to report problems and progress to management.
  • Experience with data collection and quality measurement processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics.
  • Previous experience in a food safety or GMP environment.
