About the position

The Pipeline Operator at Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is responsible for overseeing terminal and station operations related to the handling of crude oil and other bulk liquids. This role involves planning vessel arrivals, conducting safety meetings, executing vessel discharges, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The operator will also perform maintenance on facility equipment and coordinate emergency response activities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plans vessel arrival and directs the position of the vessel along the dock.
  • Leads pre-transfer meetings with vessel Captain and Officers to review necessary documentation.
  • Plans and executes vessel discharge and crude oil delivery to pipelines or tankage.
  • Performs measurement analysis to determine crude oil API gravity and sediment and water percentage.
  • Monitors operational data during crude oil movements and takes appropriate actions when necessary.
  • Performs valve alignments, pigging operations, and monitors vapor combustion systems during loading.
  • Assists with facility maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment.
  • Ensures safety and environmental protection during terminal and vessel operations.
  • Monitors terminal equipment during operational activities to ensure proper function.
  • Performs tank-to-tank transfers when necessary.
  • Gathers and organizes measurement data and enters it into the ticketing system.
  • Performs basic maintenance activities such as strainer cleaning and general housekeeping.
  • Plans and executes equipment and pipeline drain activities prior to maintenance or construction work.
  • Assigns work permits for personnel working at local facilities.
  • Develops procedures for abnormal operational activities and communicates them to internal customers.
  • Communicates operational information and maintenance needs to internal and external customers.
  • Coordinates emergency response activities and acts as first responder when required.
  • Obtains and maintains US Coast Guard person-in-charge certification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience in marine terminal, pipeline facility, or terminal facility handling bulk liquids preferred.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, manuals, and reports.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Basic mathematical skills to apply concepts such as percentages and ratios.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be available to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule and respond to call-outs as necessary.
  • Must live or relocate within 1 hour of reporting time.
