About the position

The Operator position at Chain Electric involves operating heavy equipment and performing tasks related to electrical distribution systems under the direction of a Foreman. The role requires adherence to safety practices and the ability to work in a team environment, ensuring that all equipment is maintained and operated safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety practices, rules, and regulations while performing job duties.
• Safely drive and operate company vehicles, including digger derrick, backhoes, boom and pole trucks, and forklifts.
• Facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Verify proper grounding of the truck.
• Assist in performing maintenance as needed.
• Assist with washing and maintaining equipment in proper working order.
• Assist with cleaning protective equipment and keep PPE in good condition.
• Be in close proximity to the work area to anticipate the needs of the crew and prepare tools.
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools.
• Assist in the make-ready process for job tasks, including framing poles and digging pole holes.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, picking up scrap wire and discarded materials.
• Safely control traffic passing near work zones and keep unauthorized people away from the work area.
• Perform shoveling work as required.
• Work as a team and fulfill any other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months' experience in a related field.
• Valid CDL-B license.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment.
• Ability to handle physically demanding construction duties in harsh weather conditions.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to communicate well with others.
• Ability to assist with maintenance of equipment as needed.
