Responsibilities

• Record history, chief complaint, medications, etc.
• Perform preliminary screening (lensometry, peripheral vision, IOP, color, etc.)
• Conduct diagnostic testing as ordered by MD (OCT, Visual Field, Topography, IOL Master, fundus photography, etc.)
• Assist in refraction and prepare patients for exams
• Support Ophthalmologist during exams and minor surgical procedures
• Maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
• Clean and stock examination rooms
• Scribe (record information into EMR)
• Return patient phone calls
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Certified Ophthalmic Technician certification (preferred)
• Experience in an eye clinic or medical setting
• Knowledge of physiology
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, and staff
• Responsible employee with excellent attendance.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience with electronic medical records
• Medical office experience.
