Ophthalmic Technician

About the position

The Ophthalmic Technician position at Wake Ophthalmology involves assisting in the examination and treatment of patients with eye-related issues. The role requires a combination of technical skills and patient interaction, ensuring that patients are prepared for exams and procedures while operating and maintaining ophthalmic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient history and perform visual acuity tests.
• Conduct refractions, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry.
• Dispense contact lenses as indicated.
• Prepare patients for exams and procedures.
• Operate, maintain, and sanitize ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
• Assist the physician in performing minor surgical and laser procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in ophthalmology required.
• 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Assistant required.
