About the position
The Ophthalmic Technician position at Carter Eye Center is a full-time role focused on assisting patients and doctors in a busy ophthalmology practice. The technician will perform complete eye examinations, take medical histories, conduct preliminary testing, and provide exceptional customer service. The role requires a positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team environment as the practice expands its market reach.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient history including chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications.
- Provide accurate and consistent documentation.
- Communicate with other staff to facilitate proper patient flow.
- Conduct patient testing including visual acuity, EOM, CT, pupil function, OCT, VF, IOP, AR, and refraction.
- Assist in the Ambulatory Surgery Center on surgery days.
Requirements
- Valid Certified Ophthalmic Technician certification (preferred).
- 2-5 years of experience in Ophthalmology (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and solve problems.
- Well-organized with attention to detail.
Nice-to-haves
- Spanish language skills (strongly preferred but not required).
- COA/COT certification (highly desired but not required at time of hire).
