About the position

The Ophthalmology Reading Center is seeking a Database Administrator to design, develop, program, validate, and maintain clinical trial databases in accordance with company standards. This role is crucial for addressing identified business needs or deficiencies within the organization. The Database Administrator will serve as the primary contact for the data management team for assigned studies, providing essential technical support and ensuring the quality of programming. This position requires close coordination with the database manager and network administrator to effectively integrate database systems into existing workflows, technologies, systems, and operational procedures. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Database Administrator will be tasked with writing specifications and designing, building, testing, implementing, and supporting applications using various programming and scripting languages along with development tools. The role involves developing solutions by meeting with project teams and stakeholders to gather business requirements and workflows. Collaboration with regulatory and compliance specialists is essential to ensure that all applications meet or exceed national, state, local, and institutional requirements. The Database Administrator will also be responsible for solution support and customer service, which includes performing periodic quality control measures to monitor systems for errors, data problems, and performance issues. The individual will need to identify areas for optimization within existing workflows and propose necessary changes to the team. Additional responsibilities may include performing other duties as assigned and complying with all policies and standards set forth by the organization. It is imperative that the Database Administrator adheres to all requirements for the safe and secure maintenance of Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, including annual training and compliance with the UH Code of Conduct and policies regarding PHI usage in the workplace.

Responsibilities
