About the position

As an OPIR Systems Integration Engineer at Axient, you will be at the forefront of cutting-edge work involving the transition of OPIR and SBIRS systems to the FORGE platform. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities centered around software modeling and simulation activities, particularly focusing on Space to Ground integration at government integration laboratories and Space Force operational ground sites. The position requires an active TS security clearance, emphasizing the sensitive nature of the work involved. Your primary duties will include providing modeling and simulation for Systems of Systems integration with OPIR ground systems, which is crucial for mission integration and performance. You will assess testing and analyze ground processing software, participate in enterprise-level testing, and offer recommendations to the government regarding issue resolution. Additionally, you will recommend modeling and simulation needs for the OPIR program and perform assessments of contractor deliverables and design reviews. You will also be responsible for conducting mission assessments to evaluate the technical and schedule readiness of satellites and ground systems. Collaborating with development contractors, you will witness factory performance testing, verify requirements, validate functionality, and conduct physical and functional configuration audits. Your role will involve developing support plans for system transportation to integration laboratories and operations sites, assisting the government in factory and site acceptance of hardware and software deliveries. Building a collaborative team of system engineers and test specialists will be essential for executing systems integration and end-to-end system testing. You will oversee the development, coordination, and execution of integration schedules that affect multiple stakeholders, as well as the development and execution of system of systems integration and test plans. Close collaboration with the OPIR Modeling & Analysis Center (OMAC) will be necessary for performance evaluation of systems under integration and test. Your work will also include the transition of SBIRS to FORGE, Next Gen GEO Interim Operations (NIO), and NGG SV1 to FORGE, followed by Space to Ground Integration of Next Gen Polar (NGP) and MEO Layer.
