About the position

The OPS Clinical Research Assistant position at the University of Florida's Neuromuscular Neurology Division is an entry-level role focused on supporting clinical research in neuromuscular diseases. The assistant will engage in data entry, participant recruitment, and retention for funded studies on Friedreich's Ataxia and Parkinson's Disease, contributing to significant advancements in medical research.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter clinical data into sponsor-related platforms according to ALCOA guidelines, ensuring a 72-hour turnaround for natural history protocols.
  • Conduct ongoing review and quality assurance checks to maintain data quality.
  • Collaborate with coordinators and principal investigators to identify and recruit research participants.
  • Screen potential participants weekly and develop recruitment strategies.
  • Communicate with eligible candidates in a timely manner.
  • Collect and process biospecimens, including blood draws for ALS trials requiring hourly PK sampling.
  • Ensure all samples are handled and shipped following IATA standards and specific protocol requirements.
  • Assist with the collection of vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, height) and perform ECGs during participant screenings as needed.
  • Attend research study meetings as a representative of the Neuromuscular Division.
  • Update the research team and principal investigators on enrollment progress and adherence to study goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No previous experience necessary, training will be provided.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Teams.

  • Experience in clinical trials or research settings.
