About the position

The Ops Coordinator at FedEx is responsible for providing operational support through the coordination of quality, service, and administrative functions in the pickup and delivery area. This part-time position plays a crucial role in the dispatch of transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan, aiming to minimize costs while ensuring service integrity. The Ops Coordinator performs essential process checks to ensure regulatory compliance and monitors facility reporting metrics related to service, safety, cost, and quality on a daily basis. In this role, the Ops Coordinator investigates potential performance issues and addresses them with Business Contacts and Authorized Officers (BC/AO). They review inaccuracies in generated reports with appropriate parties, including administrative staff and BC/AOs, ensuring that errors are corrected in the appropriate systems and verifying the accuracy of reported metrics. Communication is key, as the Ops Coordinator interacts with BC/AOs of Independent Contractors (ICs), Independent Service Providers (ISPs), and temporary agency employees regarding day-to-day operations, including requested load plan changes, which are implemented into the Vision/VRP systems. The Ops Coordinator also reviews operational metrics that affect daily planning and performance, including service and customer satisfaction. They investigate customer service complaints related to disputed deliveries, missing packages, and early or late pickups, ensuring that resolved issues are communicated directly to customers to maintain satisfaction. Additionally, the Ops Coordinator maintains and updates vehicle maintenance information on all temporary and/or company-owned assets, ensuring adherence to contractually agreed-upon standards and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. This position requires the creation and maintenance of files for company and vendor equipment, ensuring that all relevant insurance and maintenance documents are accurate and up to date. The Ops Coordinator assists in developing and implementing corrective action plans for any discrepancies or violations found in the Business Control Self Assessment (BCSA) tests for the appropriate area. They coordinate the dispatch of linehaul transportation equipment, accurately entering all dispatch events into the online system to ensure timely delivery and pickup of trailers. The Ops Coordinator may also perform driver release audits and organize driver training classes as assigned, while performing other duties as needed.

  • Escalates unresolved issues with BC/AOs to appropriate management.

  • Ensures adherence to contractually agreed-upon standards and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements for both company and vendor equipment.
  • Creates and maintains files for company and vendor equipment, ensuring all relevant insurance and maintenance documents are accurate and up to date.
  • Creates and maintains files in accordance with DOT regulations for all drivers (IC, ISP, and Temporary).
  • Assists in the development and implementation of corrective action plans for discrepancies or violations found in the Business Control Self Assessment (BCSA) tests.
  • Coordinates the dispatch of linehaul transportation equipment.
  • Accurately enters all dispatch events into the online system to ensure timely delivery and pickup of trailers.
  • Completes yard inventory to verify the location of equipment.
  • Investigates and reports linehaul schedule delays, accidents, and equipment failures, implementing contingency plans for on-time load delivery.
  • May perform driver release audits as assigned.
  • May organize, plan, and/or execute driver training classes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related area preferred.
  • Administrative support, customer service, or dock operations experience preferred.
  • Bilingual communication skills are necessary.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Strong customer service skills to effectively respond to requests and issues.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with various audiences.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and draw conclusions from numerical data and written information.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations used in Pickup and Delivery and Linehaul field operations, including DOT regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in logistics or transportation operations.
