About the position

The OPS Curriculum & Instructional Designer position at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection focuses on designing, developing, and delivering training and instructional materials for the Planning, Accounting and Ledger Management (PALM) system. This role requires collaboration with subject matter experts to create engaging learning experiences that enhance the functionality and use of the new financial management system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in curriculum development and instructional design, along with the ability to integrate technology into learning processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Subject Matter Experts (SME) to identify learning objectives for courses and programs.
  • Design and develop engaging and effective curriculum materials, including training plans, assessments, and activities.
  • Research and integrate innovative teaching methods and technologies into curriculum design.
  • Evaluate and revise existing curriculum materials to ensure alignment with current standards and best practices.
  • Apply instructional design principles to create effective learning experiences for diverse learners.
  • Develop assessments that align with learning objectives and measure student progress.
  • Design and develop online and blended learning modules.
  • Create storyboards and other instructional materials.
  • Train instructors on how to effectively use the curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Stay up to date on current trends and best practices in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Manage and maintain curriculum documentation.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure the success of training programs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Experience in developing curriculum for diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of current educational standards and best practices including curriculum development and instructional design principles and models.
  • Expertise using instructional technologies, authoring tools, and learning management systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing online and blended learning programs.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Strong project management skills including expertise with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certificate in curriculum development, instructional design, education, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and instructional design principles and models.
