About the position

The Operations Manager - Hauling is responsible for overseeing the collections activities for commercial, industrial, and residential customers within a designated area. This role involves managing a team that includes Operations Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operations Clerks, Drivers, and Helpers, ensuring effective route management and operational excellence. The Operations Manager collaborates with the General Manager and other managers to implement strategic initiatives that drive growth, safety, and compliance while optimizing profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Operations Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operations Clerks, Drivers, and Helpers.
  • Implement and execute plans to align with the business unit's strategic and operating plan.
  • Ensure maximum productivity and effective route management for commercial, roll-off, and residential routes.
  • Interact with customers and government employees to resolve service concerns and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee safety and accident prevention programs to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Approve expenses and manage the budget for the operations department.
  • Develop a high-performing team and workplace culture, focusing on talent development and performance management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government, community, and environmental groups.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience or participation in Republic Services' management trainee program.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on hiring and developing high-performance teams.
  • Proven problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the environmental services industry.
