About the position

The Ops Manager I position at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in St. Louis involves planning, scheduling, and supervising day-to-day operations within an aircraft manufacturing environment. The role focuses on meeting production requirements while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and budget standards. The manager will also be responsible for employee development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assign production responsibilities, work plans, and schedule requirements to department leads and coordinators to ensure compliance with FAA regulations.
  • Ensure adequate resources are available for the department to perform assigned tasks.
  • Implement company policies and procedures while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Lead trend and root cause analysis and accident investigations to promote safety.
  • Encourage a continuous improvement culture and lead Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Coordinate with engineering, finance, materials, quality, and other departments to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production process issues while minimizing costs and preventing delivery delays.
  • Maintain awareness of best practices in the manufacturing industry and encourage innovation.
  • Develop subordinate personnel's technical skills, training, and certifications.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and provide an inclusive work environment.
  • Establish process controls to ensure a FOD-free environment.
  • Provide input for the development of strategic plans to meet operational goals.
  • Promote a strong, healthy workforce through EHS resources and initiatives.
  • Support corporate sustainability initiatives and ensure emergency action plans are effective.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, Aviation Maintenance, or related curriculum required.
  • 2 years of technically related experience in aviation maintenance or general manufacturing, or 2 years of general supervisory/managerial/leadership experience.
  • Proficient in personal computer e-mail systems (Lotus Notes), computerized database management (Excel), and presentation systems (PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working at Gulfstream in the SkillBridge Program as an Ops Manager I is highly desired.
  • Completion of at least 35 days as a SkillBridge Ops Manager I is highly desired.
