About the position

The OPS Research Assistant position at Florida State University involves conducting experiments in rodents to investigate the role of the thalamus in memory function. Responsibilities

  • Conducting experiments in rodents to test the role of the thalamus in memory function.
  • Handling rodents, performing surgeries, and conducting behavioral training.
  • Processing and imaging brain tissue histologically.
  • Maintaining accurate records of experiments and collected data.
  • Assisting with laboratory maintenance and ordering supplies.
  • Helping maintain a collaborative, clean, and safe workplace.
  • Assisting with other experimental and lab-related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical science, computer science, or engineering.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, including efficient inventory handling.
  • Ability to organize and manage data and documentation on shared repositories.
  • Providing technical support for laboratory projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and motivation to excel in a diverse research environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in neuroscience research is preferred.
