About the position

The OPS Senior Clerk position at the Florida Department of Health involves assisting the Dental Hygienist in the School-Based Dental Sealant Program within Flagler County schools. The role focuses on data collection, documentation, and interaction with children and school personnel to ensure effective program delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Distribute and collect consent forms.
  • Interact daily with preschool and school-age children, addressing questions and behavioral issues.
  • Review documents for positive consent and confirm parent/guardian signatures.
  • Document services provided to children in the Health Management System (HMS).
  • Enter data into the Sealant Efficiency Assessment for Locals and States (SEALS) and Floss databases.
  • Retrieve client information from FLMMIS and FLSHOTS.
  • Register clients in HMS and EagleSoft.
  • Verify insurance through FLMMIS and Change Healthcare.
  • Print service histories from insurance web portals.
  • Complete mandated forms with 100% accuracy.
  • Represent the Florida Department of Health positively in Flagler County.
  • Interact effectively with school personnel and community members.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports as required by the State School-Based Dental Sealant Program.
  • Serve as a runner in schools for transporting children.
  • Provide backup clerical duties to the fixed dental clinic as assigned.
  • Assist the Dental Hygienist with oral health education and screenings.
  • Monitor work email and enter time worked in People First and EARS.
  • Perform front desk duties as needed and attend mandatory trainings.

Requirements

  • A valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable interacting with children.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with children.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment and use a telephone.
  • Ability to interact professionally with DOH staff and the public.
  • Proficiency in using the internet and computer systems such as Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to accurately document patient records.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of dental terminology.
  • Knowledge of EagleSoft software.
  • Knowledge of HMS State of Florida.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) year clerical or data entry work experience.
