About the position

Warby Parker is seeking a highly skilled Optical Assistant Manager to join our in-house Optical team at the Shoppes at Brinton Lake. This full-time position is pivotal in creating exceptional experiences for our customers, whether they are long-time fans or first-time wearers of our glasses. The Optical Assistant Manager will leverage their professional skills and product expertise to ensure that every customer leaves excited and confident about their eyewear choices. This role is not just about managing; it’s about being a coach and a team player, leading the store's Opticians while also consulting with customers as needed. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of optical duties, including working directly with customers to meet their eyewear needs, taking and recording measurements, adjusting and fitting eyewear, and ensuring that all finished eyewear meets our optical standards and customer requirements. You will also use your expertise to explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their options. As a leader, you will report to the Store Leader and collaborate to anticipate staffing needs while overseeing the Optician Apprentice Program participants. You will manage a team of Opticians, providing feedback, holding ongoing development conversations, and leading by example on the sales floor. Upholding exceptional service standards is crucial, as is implementing retail experience programs that enhance customer loyalty and engagement. Staying updated with HR policies and procedures will be essential to promote a productive and safe culture in the store, while also leveraging company resources to boost employee engagement and job satisfaction. Additionally, you will support general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations to ensure smooth functioning.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to help meet all of their eyewear needs.
  • Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, and execute these details with flawless accuracy.
  • Check that finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements.
  • Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers.
  • Report to the Store Leader and anticipate staffing needs.
  • Oversee the Optician Apprentice Program participants.
  • Manage a team of Opticians by providing feedback and leading by example.
  • Uphold exceptional service standards and implement retail experience programs.
  • Stay updated with HR policies and procedures to promote a safe culture.
  • Support general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations.

Requirements

  • Licensed dispensing optician in states that require a license or an ABO-certified optician in non-licensing states.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a management position.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to drive optical metrics and adhere to strict optical standards.
  • Professionalism and open-mindedness in decision-making.
  • Passion for the eyewear and retail industries.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of prioritizing tasks.
