The 3rd Shift Optical Manufacturing Technician position in Danbury, CT, involves performing mechanical processes related to optical manufacturing. The technician will work in a lab environment during the night shift, contributing to productivity and efficiency in manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on mechanical processes according to work instructions.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and technical work instructions to aid in machining and processing of optical materials.
• Identify and effectively troubleshoot minor process, material, design, or equipment nonconformances.
• Actively monitor process controls and instructions in collaboration with engineering and other Manufacturing Technicians.
• Assist in maintaining productivity and efficiency while meeting scheduled delivery dates through internal departmental communication and occasional external reporting.
• Read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets in handling hazardous chemicals.
• Comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Support Quality Calibration to maintain compliance.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including usage of email.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform problem solving tasks.
• Willingness to work in a lab environment.
• Mechanically inclined with an aptitude for learning on-the-job.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with optical surfaces preferred.
• Strong math aptitude including knowledge of trigonometry and geometry.
