About the position

The Optical Network Engineer position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in deploying large DWDM networks and optical technologies. The role focuses on network planning, modeling, and troubleshooting, with a strong emphasis on IP networking fundamentals and major internet routing protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement large DWDM networks and optical network technologies.
• Utilize optical planning and modeling tools for network design.
• Apply IP networking fundamentals and protocols in network solutions.
• Analyze and troubleshoot network issues effectively.
• Work with major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF.
• Manage and configure major router platforms, including Cisco 37xx, 49xx, 65xx, 73xx, and 76xx.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7+ years of industry experience in optical networking.
• Expertise in DWDM, T1/OTN, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, netflow, DNS, and HTTP.
• In-depth knowledge of major router platforms and their compatible supervisory and line cards.
• Strong network analysis and troubleshooting skills.
