About the position

The Eye Man is seeking an Optician or Optical Sales Associate to join their team in New York City. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, utilizing optical knowledge, and assisting customers with their eyewear needs. The ideal candidate will be energetic, a self-starter, and eager to learn, with opportunities for continued education and growth within the company.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to help meet all of their eyewear needs.
• Execute accurate optical tests using state of the art testing equipment.
• Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear.
• Check that our finished eyewear meets our optical standards.
• Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers.
• Set the store up for success each day by ensuring that all operational, service, and staff zoning procedures are executed to Eye Man standards.
• Drive the store's vision and sales by providing above-and-beyond service on the floor and acting as the main contact for customer and operational questions.
• Lead and mentor the Optical team, including participants of our Optician Apprentice Program.
• Help maintain general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations.
• Foster and support a productive, positive employee culture in your store.

• Optical experience
• Sales experience (2 years required)
• Medical coding knowledge
• HIPAA knowledge
• Laboratory experience
• ABO Certification (preferred)
• Communication skills
• Entry level experience
