About the position

As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in assisting customers with selecting and fitting eyewear to enhance their vision and style. This position is essential in providing excellent customer service in a state-of-the-art optometric practice, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care and products for their vision needs.

Responsibilities

• Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists
• Assist customers in selecting frames that complement their appearance and meet their prescription needs
• Take measurements to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses
• Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
• Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and frames based on their lifestyle and prescription
• Maintain accurate and organized patient records

Requirements

• Proficiency in optical systems for accurate measurements and fittings
• Strong sales skills to assist customers in choosing the right eyewear
• Knowledge of clinic procedures related to eyewear dispensing
• Understanding of anatomy and physiology related to the eyes
• Experience in retail sales, particularly within the optical industry
• Familiarity with laboratory procedures for lens crafting
• Ability to handle medical records with confidentiality and accuracy
• Basic understanding of retail math for transactions and inventory management
• Compassion and patience when working with senior care patients
• Knowledge of physiology to explain vision-related concepts to customers
