About the position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Summer 2025 Opto-Mechanical Engineering Intern to support optical payload hardware development for space applications. The intern will engage in designing, analyzing, and testing opto-mechanical systems and components, contributing to innovative projects in visible-light and infrared systems, missile defense, and space exploration. This role emphasizes collaboration and effective communication within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support optical payload hardware development for space applications.
  • Design, analyze, and test opto-mechanical systems and components.
  • Collaborate with team members and industry partners on technology development.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
  • Experience with computer-aided design and/or analysis.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with mechanical or opto-mechanical design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
