About the position

Responsibilities

  • Conducts and documents patient history including chief complaint and relevant symptoms.
  • Performs appropriate testing based on patient needs and documents findings.
  • Uses standard ophthalmic equipment proficiently to conduct examinations.
  • Interprets clinical data accurately and makes sound clinical diagnoses.
  • Documents clinical impressions and action plans, including referrals and prescriptions.
  • Communicates effectively with optical and ophthalmology staff to optimize patient care.
  • Attends staff meetings to stay updated on policies and events.
  • Identifies and reports system problems to improve service quality.
  • Maintains all licensing and job requirements, including continuing education.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited School of Optometry.
  • Valid Optometrist License in California required at hire.
  • Experience with therapeutic pharmaceutical agents (TPA) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of experience in optometry desired but not required.
  • Certification in Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA).
