About the position

The Oracle Applications DBA Tech Lead/Manager position is a hands-on role focused on managing and supporting Oracle ERP applications, with a strong emphasis on Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) versions 11i and R12. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the physical and technical aspects of the database environment, including storage, security, and networking. This role requires a deep understanding of Oracle Fusion Cloud, as the candidate will manage the Oracle Cloud OCI platform and ensure the ongoing integrations and configurations are maintained effectively. In this position, the DBA Tech Lead/Manager will ensure that database resources are appropriately sized and that a design strategy is in place to maintain the database at a healthy size. The role involves ensuring the availability and performance of multi-database and application environments that handle large volumes of data. Routine DBA tasks such as database maintenance, backups, recovery, and upgrades will be part of the responsibilities. The candidate will also execute periodic health checks for databases and recommend necessary changes to optimize performance in the production environment. Collaboration with multiple infrastructure, security, and IT teams is crucial for environment setup, maintenance, and support. The DBA Tech Lead/Manager will plan and respond to service outages, monitor system performance, diagnose software and hardware failures, and provide patch management to mitigate new threats. The role also includes creating and testing data backups, performing database configuration and tuning, and maintaining Oracle Quarterly Releases and patch management schedules. Additionally, the candidate will support systems development, migration, and integration efforts as needed, contributing significantly to work plans for security analysis and recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Support physical and technical aspects of Oracle ERP applications, including storage, security, and networking.
  • Ensure database resources are sized properly and develop a design strategy for database maintenance.
  • Ensure availability and performance of multi-database and application environments with large volumes.
  • Manage Oracle Cloud OCI platform and maintain ongoing integrations and configurations.
  • Perform routine DBA tasks such as database maintenance, backups, recovery, and upgrades.
  • Execute periodic health checks for databases and recommend changes for optimal performance.
  • Interact and work with multiple infrastructure, security, and IT teams for environment setup and support.
  • Plan and respond to service outages, including backup and restore processes.
  • Monitor system performance and diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution.
  • Provide patch management and distribution capabilities to prevent new threats.
  • Create and test data backups, provide data cleansing services, and verify data integrity.
  • Perform database configuration, monitoring, and tuning.
  • Conduct routine maintenance including problem defect analysis and resolution.
  • Support logs and alerts, access rights, and database instance version control.
  • Perform memory usage monitoring and database parameter configuration.
  • Maintain Oracle Quarterly Releases and patch management schedules.
  • Support systems development, migration, and integration efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
  • 10+ years of experience with Oracle EBS (11i/R12).
  • Minimum of five (5) years in ERP Cloud platform.
  • 20+ years of experience as an Oracle ERP APPS DBA.
  • Experience executing a minimum of two Upgrade cycles in the past.
  • Knowledge of EBS Application architecture, Concurrent managers, and Workflow.
  • Excellent knowledge in cloning, patching, backup recovery of ERP applications.
  • Hands-on experience with RMAN, Backup Management, and recovery techniques.
  • Ability to design and implement disaster recovery plans.
  • Support Oracle Cloud and EBS developers for custom coding and code migration.
  • Knowledge of system administration functionality within Oracle Cloud ERP.
  • Unix Shell Scripting skills on Oracle ODA's and OVM's.
  • Ability to manage and supervise DBA staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SQL profiling and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and Oracle Analytics Cloud (FAW/ADW).
