About the position

The IT Administrator role is responsible for providing enterprise support, planning, designing, maintaining, and implementing services within a specified technical discipline. This position focuses on the performance, security, and operations of assigned systems, particularly within the Oracle Server infrastructure. The IT Administrator will assist IT employees in resolving technology development and integration issues while accommodating growth and expansion within the county's technical resources.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the County's Oracle Server infrastructure.
  • Create and assign user rights using supporting tools, such as FreeIPA.
  • Ensure optimal maintenance and performance of the Oracle Host and Virtualization environments using Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager.
  • Assist with maintenance, patching, and refreshing Oracle VM environments, including security and other supporting patches.
  • Assist with testing and release strategies and planning.
  • Monitor and validate Oracle system backups and recovery using supporting tools, such as Local YUM repository.
  • Assist with storage-based snapshots and cloning operations.
  • Assist with Oracle VM snapshots and cloning functions.
  • Assist with day-to-day troubleshooting.
  • Create/Modify documentation or system changes.
  • Use the county's defined Incident and Change Management practices.
  • Setup/Configure and monitor the environment using a variety of monitoring tools.
  • Work closely with Oracle Database Administrators, Programmer Analysts, and IT Systems Analysts as needed.
  • Provide support to county staff and 3rd party vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer systems or related area.
  • Two years of responsible technical experience in enterprise infrastructure related discipline.
  • Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in scripting for automation and management for environments using Ansible, Python, and Bash scripting.
  • Certifications in security and compliance and information protection and audit logging.
  • Certifications in data backup task and recovery using Veeam and Oracle RMAN.
  • Certifications in installing, configuring and updating Oracle Virtualization software.
  • Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
