About the position

The Product Manager for Oracle Database Cloud Services will play a crucial role in delivering best-in-class database cloud services, including Exadata Database Service and Base Database Service on VM. This position involves complex and non-routine work that requires advanced technical and business skills. The successful candidate will take complete ownership of product management for selected areas and will be responsible for leading initiatives that enhance customer engagement and product adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers directly to understand usage patterns and improve the adoption of Oracle's cloud services.
  • Plan and execute product announcements and create product assets using various software tools.
  • Assist in developing short-, medium-, and long-term strategic plans.
  • Regularly interact with senior management to ensure unit objectives are met.
  • Influence thinking and gain acceptance in sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrate leadership and people management skills.
  • Provide hands-on training for Customer Support and Technical Sales personnel.
  • Develop collateral such as technical and business white papers, success stories, and product presentations.
  • Maintain internal and external websites related to technologies.
  • Present at user group meetings, trade shows, and industry conferences.
  • Track the PaaS/Converged Infrastructure market landscape and competitive products.

Requirements

  • 1 - 5 years of engineering/product management/technical sales experience in enterprise computing.
  • Strong familiarity with computer networks, cloud technologies, virtualization, and data center infrastructure.
  • Excellent written and communication/presentation skills, with writing samples required.
  • BS, MS, or MBA in Computer Science or a related technical degree.
  • Balanced mix of leadership and technical skills, with relevant hardware and database software experience.
  • Experience dealing with a broad spectrum of IT audiences, from CTO/CIO to database/systems/network/storage administrators.
  • Awareness of trends and opportunities in cloud computing and their influence on Oracle's business.
  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for solving complex technology and business problems.
  • Meticulous, structured, and detail-oriented, with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Strong inter-personal skills to effectively deal with various internal groups and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Oracle databases as a DBA is a strong plus.
  • A can-do attitude with a focus on deliverables and deadlines.
  • Superb time management skills, especially in the context of multiple commitments.
