About the position

The Oracle Database Administrator 3 position involves managing and optimizing Oracle databases for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. The role focuses on database development, performance tuning, and ensuring data integrity while working closely with application teams to enhance the Financial Data Warehouse. Responsibilities include creating and modifying database structures, monitoring performance, and providing technical assistance to users.

Responsibilities

• Create production databases and monitor database performance.
• Direct programmers and analysts to implement changes in the database management system.
• Review and correct database programs as needed.
• Answer user questions and provide technical assistance.
• Evaluate user requests for new data elements and incorporate them into the existing data environment.
• Perform data modeling and prototyping, including logical and physical data modeling.
• Maintain data dictionary and ensure uniformity of definitions.
• Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
• Create test database environments and execute recovery procedures.
• Assist with database software installation and security standards.

Requirements

• 6 years of experience in Oracle database design, analysis, and performance tuning.
• 6 years of experience in Oracle database structures and data analysis.
• 6 years of experience designing enterprise applications and/or services.
• 6 years of experience creating technical and functional design documentation.
• 6 years of experience within the software development lifecycle using Agile methodology.
• 6 years of experience with multi-tier system/application development.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 year of Jira experience.
• 1 year of Oracle Certification.
• 1 year of experience with data warehouse applications and/or database reporting features.
