About the position

The Oracle Database Administrator/Developer position is a contract role focused on the development and implementation of modifications and enhancements to the Financial Data Warehouse. The candidate will primarily work with Oracle databases, optimizing performance, creating new data models, and ensuring data integrity while collaborating with a team to support complex data workflows and reporting needs.

Responsibilities

  • Create production databases and monitor database performance.
  • Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to the database management system.
  • Review and correct programs, answering user questions and conferring with coworkers on database changes.
  • Modify database programs to enhance processing performance through performance tuning.
  • Assist in planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems.
  • Evaluate user requests for new data elements and systems, incorporating them into the existing shared data environment.
  • Perform logical and physical data modeling, designing relational database models and creating physical data models from logical data models.
  • Maintain data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and set standards for its use.
  • Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Create test database environments for applications, including necessary libraries and procedures.
  • Execute procedures to save, retrieve, and recover databases from failures.
  • Assist with installation of database software and analyze, design, and implement databases.
  • Benchmark and threshold test databases, establishing and controlling necessary database security.

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience in Oracle database design, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • 6 years of experience in Oracle database structures and data analysis.
  • 6 years of experience designing enterprise applications and/or services.
  • 6 years of experience creating technical and functional design documentation.
  • 6 years of experience within the software development lifecycle using Agile methodology (Scrum).
  • 6 years of experience with multi-tier system/application development (SOA, Microservices, 3-Tier applications).

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of Jira experience.
  • 1 year of Oracle Certification.
  • 1 year of experience with data warehouse applications and/or database reporting features.
