About the position

The Oracle Database Administrator position is a senior-level role focused on managing and optimizing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases. The role requires advanced expertise in database architectures, security principles, and performance tuning methodologies. The candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of database systems, while also participating in a rotational 24x7 on-call support schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Multi-Tenant Architecture and PostgreSQL database servers.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient, scalable database solutions.
  • Monitor database performance and system resource utilization to ensure high availability.
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Configure and maintain database security, ensuring appropriate user permissions and roles are in place.
  • Analyze and forecast future database storage requirements.
  • Perform data migrations between Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other databases.
  • Implement and manage high availability solutions such as Oracle Data Guard Replication and PostgreSQL streaming replication.
  • Resolve database-related incidents such as connectivity issues and slow performance.
  • Automate routine database administration tasks using scripts.
  • Work closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support application and system requirements.
  • Ensure databases comply with relevant regulatory standards and regularly audit database security.
  • Stay current with new database technologies, tools, and techniques.

Requirements

  • Advanced expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with database installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of database performance tuning methodologies.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Familiarity with database security best practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple complex database systems.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux Operating Systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation tools for monitoring and backups.
