About the position

The Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining both production and non-production databases. This role involves ensuring the standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration. The administrator will perform backup and recovery operations, configure database parameters, and prototype designs based on logical data models. Additionally, the position focuses on optimizing database access and resource allocation to achieve optimal configuration, performance, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Installing and maintaining Oracle database software
  • Identifying and testing database software updates, patches, and Oracle service packs
  • Creating storage database structures with high-level security features
  • Setting up database user accounts
  • Implementing backup and recovery plans to protect the database against data loss
  • Minimizing database downtime and managing parameters for fast query responses
  • Developing automation scripts for routine tasks
  • Performing tests and evaluations to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
  • Maintaining database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems
  • Writing technical procedures and documents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with various database management systems
  • 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with Oracle, preferably 19C and Cloud
  • Strong experience with database backup procedures and recovery systems
  • Experience with Oracle tools and utilities, including Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), Oracle Data Guard, Oracle SQL Developer, and Toad
  • Strong understanding of SQL and PL/SQL with the ability to write complex queries
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information
  • Ability to work well with system administrators and application developers while troubleshooting issues
  • Four-year degree in a computer science-related field
  • Oracle DBA certification.
