About the position

The Oracle Database Administrator at RTL Networks is responsible for providing sustainment, configuration, and security support for the Oracle Database Management System (DBMS) used by the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO). This role involves ensuring cybersecurity compliance, managing software upgrades, and maintaining the overall health and performance of the database systems. The position requires a strong focus on documentation, user support, and collaboration with government stakeholders to enhance database functionalities and security measures.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate cybersecurity compliance of the Oracle DBMS software against DISA STIG and create updated security checklists quarterly.
  • Implement cybersecurity requirements due to CTO directives or DISA STIG updates.
  • Maintain a system administration guide detailing remediation steps for STIG items.
  • Assist with analysis, development, and implementation of enhanced security integrations.
  • Create and modify scripts and documentation supporting STIG compliance.
  • Sustain automated cybersecurity compliance evaluation scripts for Oracle DBMS on RHEL 8.X servers.
  • Analyze upgrade strategies and document recommended solutions for software upgrades.
  • Perform software upgrades for Oracle DBMS on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Assist with migrating existing Oracle databases to newer DBMS hardware and software versions.
  • Provide software support for installation and testing of Oracle DBMS vendor patches.
  • Document and map data structures and create SOPs for database connectivity.
  • Provide technical support for new efforts or data hosting capabilities from NAVOCEANO production codes.
  • Sustain documentation for all aspects of current Oracle DBMS architecture.
  • Analyze and implement improvements to Oracle DBMS management techniques and backup solutions.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience in database administration.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • IAT Level II Certification (Security+ CE) is required.
