About the position

Peraton is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support environmental compliance information management and enterprise software solutions. The DBA will maintain Oracle-based environments for web applications, ensure database security compliance with federal standards, and assist in configuring Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) OS. This role involves performance tuning, security audits, and collaboration with various teams to ensure seamless application deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Tune Oracle databases to optimize performance in all environments.
  • Secure databases in conformance with federal security standards and provide evidence of configurations during periodic security tests and audits.
  • Write database scripts to perform one-off DML tasks in support of user community requests and development efforts.
  • Provide input and guidance to aid middle-tier architecture decisions relating to database performance.
  • Evaluate new technologies, determine viability of solutions, and make recommendations.
  • Partner with Data Center operations and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless deployments, proper documentation and support for applications.
  • Maintain several environments, keeping them in-step with security changes and patches, including OS, database, and all vendor updates, while adhering to certification standards and change procedures.
  • Perform builds and deployments in support of release testing.
  • Provide configuration management in a development environment.
  • Support development teams, implementation teams and help-desk teams with requested issues, both local and remote to the site.
  • Occasionally provide after-hours or weekend troubleshooting support to address urgent issues that may arise in the production deployment of a web-based application.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree. Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree.
  • Familiarity with writing SQL and PL/SQL statements, functions, procedures, and packages.
  • Some knowledge in writing Linux shell scripts.
  • Some knowledge with Linux OS server administration; preferably RHEL.
  • Experience with Oracle database administration.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
