About the position

The Oracle Database Administrator will provide technical support for Department of Defense (DoD) employees requiring IT assistance on NMCI and DoD legacy networks. This role involves leveraging expertise in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) to support, maintain, and troubleshoot database issues while ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The administrator will also be responsible for monitoring database performance, applying patches, and ensuring compliance with security regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for DoD employees on NMCI and DoD legacy networks.
  • Leverage knowledge of RDBMS systems to provide database support and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot database issues in coordination with end-users, DBAs, and server administrators.
  • Guide application users, testers, developers, and team members on database functionality and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of database architecture and application functionality.
  • Perform installation of routine and emergency database patches, upgrades, and backups.
  • Monitor database audit trails to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Review and analyze Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) against the Oracle database environment.
  • Conduct performance tuning, backups, and recovery of databases using Oracle tools.
  • Perform initial testing of new systems and analyze test failures.
  • Research Oracle database business process solutions and assess their viability.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience using Oracle 10g, 11g, 12g, or 19c.
  • Experience working in a professional environment.
  • Experience using Oracle tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Toad, Golden Gate, RMAN, WebLogic, and Data Guard.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems and query languages for database operations.
  • Knowledge of data mining, data storage, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • CompTIA Security+ or information assurance certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a government environment.
  • Experience in mitigating Security Technical Implementation Guides findings.
  • Knowledge of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related technical degree.
  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
